Creative Outlets Podcast Out, Life Update

Despite how busy this week has been, I did get a podcast out this week. I released it late last night, and you can listen to the podcast directly below or through Spotify or Itunes.

Life Update

So what happened last week? Why was I so busy?

Two things:

  1. I moved back to Troy, yesterday actually.
  2. 8 photoshoots in 6 days.

What I want to talk more about is the photoshoots, as I rediscovered why I fell in love with photography in the first place.

It's not about the money.

And don't get me wrong: the money is nice, it helps pay for all of the expensive gear and toys that come along with photography and videography. It's nice to command hourly rates of $50-$100/hour at the age of 19.

But when you only focus on the money, it just becomes a job. There's no creative side to it, there's no passion, there's no meraki.

Meraki is a Greek work meaning "to do something with soul, creativity, or love", and it's what I named my photo/video business: Meraki Visual Media .

Creative Outlets Podcast

Doing these shoots gave me the inspiration for the podcast, but only once I shot that last shoot. And I realized that not many people do have a creative outlet, which is why I talked about it.

It's particularly useful for college students that may not have a whole weekend to unwind so they need something that they can pick up and put down quickly, or something that is "high density fun".

So again, check out the podcast, and let me know what you think!
