Start Being The Authentic Yourself

To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.
— Ralph Waldo Emerson

So a couple days ago, I published a podcast talking about people being fake, and why they would be better served just being the best, authentic versions of themselves.

As usual, you can directly listen to the Podcast below, or click here for links to the Spotify and Itunes podcast.

This is actually one of the reasons why this blog post is coming out so late. I’m bouncing back from a severe case of food poisoning, and I could have definitely acted like everything was fine and kept working on it, but I wouldn’t have been in the right headspace. Barring the quick side note, let’s talk about some of the advantages/reasons why the only person you ever be in this life is yourself.

There’s Less Competition

And because there’s less competition, you’ll have a higher chance of succeeding. Less doesn’t mean there won’t be any competition, however, with nearly 8 billion people on this planet, it’s impossible to select something that ABSOLUTELY no one else is trying to do.

However being passionate about something, being authentic about your pursuit, combined with the lesser competition will help increase your chances of thriving in whatever it is you may be pursuing.

It’s Easier

When you’re acting like someone else, you have to do what I call mental gymnastics in the podcast. Always anticipating what people like when you’re trying to change, keeping up certain lies and personas, making sure your backstory lines up with the kind of façade you’re trying to uphold at the time. That’s exhausting man. And it sucks the joy of that potential relationship you were trying so hard to have anyways, defeating the whole purpose in my opinion.

Why not be yourself? The only person you have to hold accountable to is yourself, and when you click with someone and enjoy their presence, you know its genuine and because that person really likes you for who you are, not this person you’ve crafted for them.

And with that being said, let me take a second to be real with you guys.

This month is packed: every teacher decided to schedule all of their exams, reports, and everything due for this month. WIth that being said, school comes first, so I apologize for the highly irregular content schedule. I do have podcasts and articles brainstorming, but the real question is if I’ll translate them into a reality to share with you guys. Thanks for your continued patience, as the podcast reaches 500 listens :)
